High School

KIPP Austin College Prep makes a commitment to all students to start them on the road to college. As a result, we strive to place all our 8th graders in competitive public and private high schools in Austin and throughout the nation.  The first class of alumni are now in their 9th grade year at Austin schools such as St. Stephen’s Episcopal School, St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, and St. Michael’s Academy, as well as Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire and The Cate School in California.

KIPP Austin’s Alumni Services Program, called KIPP to College, provides ongoing support to KIPP Austin alumni enrolled in these college preparatory high schools.  Rising 9th graders are placed in summer internships and receive weekly support throughout the school year.  This support is essential to providing alumni with the necessary advisement to ensure high school graduation and college matriculation.

As class sizes are growing, placing students at high schools has become a formidable task.  To answer this need, KIPP Austin will expand to a full high school in the coming years, beginning by adding a ninth grade class in 2008.
