The KIPP Austin College Prep Experience

An open-enrollment, free public charter school for students in grades 5 to 8, KIPP Austin College Prep offers an academically rigorous, college preparatory curriculum. In addition to extra learning time—amounting to 67% more than in traditional school settings—KIPP Austin students benefit from an outstanding nutrition and fitness program, engagement in community service, leadership training, and participation in a band that has become a pillar of pride for the entire school.

As an open-enrollment public school, students receive a seat at KIPP Austin through a lottery.  There is no application process and students are not screened based on past behavior or academic success.  However, we do require a commitment from the student and his or her parents to work hard and adhere to the Commitment to Excellence agreement.
