KIPP Austin students and staff dedicate 67% more time to learning than their public school counterparts by attending school from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, Saturday School twice a month, and Summer School for three weeks each June.
In order to attract and retain the very best teachers, we offer a higher starting salary than traditional schools. Our teachers also make themselves available by cell phone so students can call for homework help.
Each student has the opportunity to earn a special hands-on-learning field lesson that complements the academic program. Our 5th graders visit Washington, D.C., 6th graders visits national parks in Utah, 7th graders take a California college tour, and 8th graders visit colleges on the East Coast.
Opened in August 2006, the library blends tradition and technology with books appropriate for our students' reading levels as well as a computer lab.
